The Batman (2022) Movie Review

After being released in the beginning of March, I finally got around to watching Matt Reeves’ new “The Batman” starring Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright and more. To start, I really love Robert Pattinson and the performances he’s given us over his last few movies. If you haven’t seen “The Batman ” yet, it really takes a different approach to previous Batman’s and the Gotham universe. I very much enjoyed the dark and depressing tone of the film, and the direction Reeves/Pattinson took Bruce Wayne’s character. From the jump, I really wanted to love the film, but the first 30 or minutes were hard to watch. The intro felt forced, rushed, and manufactured – BUT did payoff with a very solid 2 hours worth of intense action scenes and appealing dialogue. My biggest gripe with the movie is that they absolutely BUTCHERED Afled’s character by having Andy Serkis as his character.

“The Batman” is a 7.9 out of 10 and is worth the watch to say the least. There is SO much to like about the movie, but it still fails to live up to other Batman movies and other superhero themed films. On the list of high notes, I enjoyed that great cincomatogrpahy, awesome acting from Pattinson, Kravitz, and Eright, original plot/execution, and overall how authentic/dark Pattinson’s portrayal of Batman was. While the beginning lacked any excitement and failed to pull me in, I did enjoy the overall plot of the movie – Reeves has done a fantastic job with this one and I love the Riddler as the main villain. Overall it was worth the watch, but it’s nothing groundbreaking or phenomenal. With that being said, I am very excited they are working on future installments of Robert Pattison as The Batman.
