Hustle (2022) Movie Review

Stanley Sugerman’s (Adam Sandler) love for basketball is unparalleled, but the travel weary Philadelphia 76ers scout who has higher ambitions of being a coach remains stuck on the road looking for the next unknown talent. His search around the world leads him to Spain, when he discovers Bo Cruz (NBA player Juancho Hernangómez), an incredible streetball player with a troubled past. Stanley and Bo connect on and off the court, with their passion for the game and as loving family men who want to prove they can win, in basketball and in life. With the support of Stanley’s wife, Teresa (Queen Latifah), can the underdogs come out on top?

The coach/athlete relationship is something special, and something that you really only understand if you’ve coached an elite athlete, but Adam Sandler’s new movie “Hustle” perfectly captures that relationship dynamic. “Hustle” is special, it hits home, and is one of the better movies released so far in 2022. For every 3 or 4 mediocre Adam Sandler movies, it seems like there’s an absolute classic sprinkled in there and his recent masterpiece, “Hustle” is just that. If you’ve followed Adam Sandler at all in recent years, you know he’s a HUGE basketball head and this movie really allows him to showcase his love of basketball and his AMAZING acting capability.

“Hustle” is a well made and heartfelt 8.9 out of 10 and highlights Sandler’s amazing acting ability. Adam Sandler is phenomenal and “Hustle” really reminds of “Uncut Gems” in terms of Sandler’s breathtaking acting performance and the overall authenticity of the film. Not only is Sandler perfect in this one, but Netflix did a great job of bringing this one to life and delivering in giving viewers an authentic, hard hitting, and heartfelt film.

If you have Netflix, “Hustle” needs to be the #1 movie on your watch list. It has everything you could want in a movie. From amazing acting from Sandler and cast, to a near perfect story, to great execution, “Hustle” is one of the best movies of the year and is one of the best Netflix original movies of the last few years. If you’re a fan of Adam Sandler, specifically his role in “Uncut Gems”, watch this one ASAP.
