Amsterdam (2022) Movie Review

I don’t think you can name another movie this year that has had the star-studded cast that David O. Russell’s ‘Amsterdam’ has. With two of my all-time favorite actors including John David Washington and Margot Robbie, ‘Amsterdam’ has an unbeatable cast that also stars Christian Bale, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, Mike Myers, Timothy Olyphant, Rami Malek, and Robert De Niro. Based on the cast alone, it’s worth the watch just to see all these actors in the same film, but outside of that – ‘Amsterdam’ is a high-quality movie that is worth watching. While it’s not the greatest movie of all time, it deserves praise for its cast, unique plot, storytelling techniques, and cinematography.

‘Amsterdam’ is a solid 8.1 out of 10 and offers so much to enjoy during the 2+ hour duration of the film. The artistic cinematography paired with the semi-true story gives this one more than enough to be high on your watch list. It’s a beautiful film filled with heartfelt, intriguing, and hilarious scenes. It’s a little predictable at moments, but the journey to get to those points makes up for it. ‘Amsterdam’ features some amazing storytelling and cinematography, but isn’t a must-watch on the big screen. If you haven’t watched it in the theaters yet, save this one to watch at home when it’s digitally released.
