OneGreatBastard or “OGB” started writing as a way to mentally escape his abusive father. This need for creation eventually led him to writing poetry and then raps. All of this was so he could share his story of resilience and overcoming harsh home conditions with the world. Through this internal turmoil a leader was forged whose only means of escape was music. Physical punishment would be inflicted if OGB played a track that his father could hear so he buried himself in it, listening to Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, Ice Cube and more as his earliest forays into music. Raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland I always felt a need to put the area on. Outside of Wale, and now Rico Nasty OG felt there were not any artists who could properly reflect his experience. This drove him to “Put on for his hood” first as a poet on the DC Youth Slam Team and then on countless stages across the DMV. OG’s reason for making music started as a way to escape but now its used as a means to share. Share what he’s gone through, share the lessons he’s learned, share the gems he’s learned along the way with people who may have experienced something similar. His goal is to take his fam on a world tour that doubles as a community awareness tour. This for him looks like town halls before the concert and then raging hard at the show. For all the bastards and misfits in this life that feel unseen, unheard, or otherwise discarded this is your champion. Trap and Hip-Hop beats are OG’s favorites as he grew up on them most of his life. Artists such as Snoop, Dom Kennedy, Curren$y, and Wale are all good comparisons for OG and his sound.
